"Research is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought." This quote by 'Albert Szent-Gyorgyi' clearly asserts what research is. For any field to grow and develop we need experiments and improvements. Examining the boundaries and expanding of horizons can only be thought of by systematic research in the subject. Under this section we present some research papers on Homeopathy-thought and practice.
History shows that homoeopathy reflects its potentiality in epidemic management since its inception. As India is the global leader in the field of homoeopathy, almost every new emerging disease was successfully tackled by the veteran homoeopathic physicians of India. Initiatives in government level were taken from time to time to generate evidences.
Recently team of Homoeopathy University, Jaipur got an opportunity to study the Covid-19 Positive cases admitted in various Hospitals of Jaipur. Though we tried a lot to obtain the official permission to conduct the research trial in collaboration with CRI (A unit of CCRH, New Delhi) but we could not succeed due to strict policies of ethical committees of Government medical colleges.
Through this open letter Dr. Das asserts on the use of antimiasmatic trio of Arsenicum album 30 –Phosphorus 30-Tuberculinum 200 in series for prevention of recurrence of COVID-19. This paper suggests that long acting complementary medicine(s) with miasmatic consideration should be considered according to the homoeopathic principles.
Paraplegia is a form of paralysis that mostly affects the movement of the lower body. Paralysis is most often caused by strokes, usually from a blocked artery in neck or brain or damage/injury to brain or spinal cord, like what can happen in a car accident or sports injury. The rectification of the abnormal neuro-muscular functions causing paraplagia is possible using homeopathic medicines.
Dr.Ajit Kulkarni explains in this paper the concept of Monogram with philosophy, abstraction and generalization, correlation with data in Materia Medica and meaning of words coined for monogram. The group monogram of Carbon, Halogen and Mercury are analyzed along with one individual remedy of Opium. Several examples and case illustrations have been provided.
This research paper discusses the effectiveness of homoeoprophylaxis against Leptospirosis, a zoonotic disease (transmitted between humans and animals) caused by infection with pathogenic strains of Gram-negative bacterium Leptospira spp in Cuba. Homeoprophylaxis treatment included a prime administration of 2 doses of nosoLEP 200C
Typhoid fever is the result of systemic infection mainly by Salmonella typhi and S. Paratyphi A or B. The disease may occur sporadically, epidemically, or endemically. Arsenic alb (Genus epidemicus) had shown its curative as well as the preventive action. The findings are encouraging to open avenues for further studies on using genus epidemicus for treatment and prevention of epidemic diseases.
The research paper addresses the efficacy of Homoeopathic Genus epidemicus in prevention of Epidemics. It also explains the effective method of finding Genus epidemicus for prevailing epidemics. The study effectively uses Bryonia alba 30C as preventive for Chikungunya during its epidemic outbreak in Kerela while earlier in preventive study by Rejikumar et al. Eupatorium perfoliatum was used as the Genus epidemicus.
About 3 billion people are now at risk of Japanese encephalitis (JE) having its focus in South East Asian and Oceanian countries. There is no treatment of this disease and vaccination is still not adopted as a national program by most countries endemic to the disease. Thus this study was aimed to see possible preventive and curative effect of “Belladonna-200” against JE.
The experiment showed that Belladona 200 reduced the severity of Japanese encephalitis by diminishing the viral loads in brain. The study further suggests that pre-treatment of Belladonna 200C may reduce the viral entry, its propagation in different organs particularly in the brain and thus may reduce the pathological sequel of the disease.
This paper explores the use of homeopathy medicines in different stages of Japanese Encephalitis. It was found that Belladonna is useful in first stage of encephalitis without effusion. Helleborus is effective in the second stage of the disease with effusion, stupor, dragging of legs and developing paralysis. Finally Phosphorus is indicated when complete paralysis appears due to inflammation and degeneration of brain cells.
This paper presents a protocol with the objective of investigating, in a randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled clinical trial, the effectiveness and safety of possible individualized homeopathic drugs of epidemic genius of COVID-19, in adjuvant and complementary treatment of patients affected by the disease. If effectiveness and safety of medicine chosen is confirmed using this protocol, the medicine may be used in a generalized and collective manner in the treatment and prevention of the current epidemic.
